In agriculture, water is almost everything because nothing can live without it. And for keeping and sustaining the vegetations and plants to grow steadily, right kind of water supply or irrigation method need to be adopted. There are varieties of irrigation systems for effective watering task.
Those irrigation systems have to be taken in to considerations which can use water as little as possible. It is not that water is precious and one can not afford to waste it, but it is only the adequate level of water offering can benefit your garden plantation. Over water supply can harm them and too little watering distribution also can lead them to malnutrition.
Generally, there is flood irrigation which is more common, and out-of-date irrigation method that involves irregular irrigation supply. On the other hand, the latest irrigation systems and techniques are developed to make watering task easy and efficient. Some of them for your, are sprinkler systems and drip irrigation systems which are most recommended.
Sprinkler systems facilitate you offering water to your plants and vegetation from the top through hose or tubing. But this mode of sprinkling has some drawbacks. As the water gets sprayed, it gets slightly evaporated in the air and does not reach the roots of the plants. Besides this, it can unnecessarily and inappropriately make the soil soaked.
Compared to sprinklers, drip irrigation system is more beneficial. The technique of drip irrigation involves offering uniform watering which goes directly to the root level without getting water evaporated in the air. And also it preserves the moisture level in the soil which is essential for the growth of the vegetation and other garden plants.
Now lets think about how drip irrigation system or method came into existence and became so popular. Previously, in the past, people used clay pots as watering device. There were little holes in the pots and water came dripping slowly and steadily on the plants.
It was in 1866 in Afghanistan, where some researchers experimented with clay pipes and made irrigation and drainage systems. Later on this irrigation method took fine shape and drip irrigation method was developed.
The perfect and improved model of drip irrigation system was developed in Israel around 1959 by Simcha Blass. Very first time, with Kibbutz Hatzerim, he prepared surface drip irrigation emitters.
Sometimes, drip irrigation is refereed to as trickle irrigation or micro irrigation. Some call it as drip irragation. On the whole, this irrigation system comprises of tubing, pipes, and emitters. This system can be installed on the surface/earth or under the soil. Varieties of drip irrigation, just like tubing and pipes, pressure regulator, drip emitters, soaker hose, hose connectors, timers, valve, filter, etc. available.
If you consider drip irrigation to be suitable as your watering method for your entire garden plants and vegetations, then you can install it on your own. Firstly, get polyethylene hose with a view to make the main lines, and then join the lines using the hose connectors.
Install pressure regulator to force the water. Do not miss to install filter so that no remnants can smother the way of your watering force. Install emitters for distributing water to your plants. And finally, install timers so that you can on and off your water supply whenever you wish.
Surface level installation of drip irrigation system is more preferred because, whenever you wish to make your garden expand or make bigger, then you can very easily move your hoses around your garden plants to water them conveniently.
So, which irrigation method youre going to use that depends on your irrigation requirements. Therefore, make the informed and wise choice of the watering system and keep your garden greener and healthier! - 16477
