And on the Seventh Day: A Moving Week Checklist

By Edmonton Storage Guy

The last week before you move will be spent taking care of final details such as cleaning and last-minute packing. If you haven't already done so, contact your utility companies and other essential service providers to give them your new contact information.

Many of the things left to be packed are things that you use on a daily basis. They can't be packed yet, but you should keep them limited to as few locations as possible, to avoid overlooking anything when it's time to go.

Hopefully by now you've got at least one or two empty rooms. These should be thoroughly cleaned and then sealed off. Don't leave them open or you may have to clean them again.

Your appliances should be checked out and cleaned with seven days to go. Take care of any necessary repairs, to avoid having to deal with while setting up your new home. You'll want to avoid buying frozen foods during this last week, to prevent waste and allow you to use up what's already in your freezer.

One of the best things you can do for yourself during your last seven days is to keep a notepad with you at all time. Write down any items you're going to need to purchase, and any errands you need to run. It's easy to overlook even the most obvious tasks during the frantic few days before your move.

Take some time to fill out moving announcement cards-you can either purchase them at a stationery store or print them up on your computer-with your new address and phone number (if it's changing) to send to your friends and relatives. They'll appreciate the gesture, and the ability to stay in touch.

The last week of your move is a busy time, so think ahead to keep yourself organized and you'll be less likely to leave out anything important.
